Secondly I must buy the eyeconnect software to continue streaming video after the 30 day trial. There are 2 reasons, firstly eyeconnect needs > 500MHz CPU - I use an old PowerMac G4 Dual 450MHz. With almost 150GB of music shared from my iTunes server I'm reluctant to change it all for Windows */ goes off to gargle and wash keyboard with acid /*.Īs the poster above has discovered, Eyeconnect gives some hope but I'd be happier not involving a third party app in the whole process. To my dismay this support doesn't extend to iTunes. ![]() I bought a PS3 recently and the 1.89 software update it downloaded on power up enabled a feature involving DLNA - Digital Living Network Alliance - which allows anyone with a compatible device to stream audio and video to their PS3. ![]() I could never comprehend why you would want this at home anyway, since one mac will play back the contents from another Mac over the network, in any case. Have your IP redirected via a crowd such as and hey presto, your TV library is available to you anywhere you have broadband access. If you know your IP address, then your library can be accessed via xxx.xx.xx.xxx:2170/eyetv. Not the most elegant of solutions, but hey, it works.įurthermore and contrary to Elgato's pronouncements on this, the (local) wifi access to recorded TV media as introduced in v2.5 of eyeTV is not confined to your home network only, something I moaned about in another thread. Just select a given programme from your eyeTV library, press triangle and then copy. Previously, copying OTA would be possible but the copied file would display the same 'the data is corrupted' result. What has changed, as I have just discovered, is that programmes can instead be copied across and will now (mysteriously) play perfectly. I note however, that the legend 'the data is corrupted' no longer appears when I try to play back the file, since the introduction of 1.5, suggesting work has been done and that some progress is being made. The FAQ on Elgato's site, does state that programmes recorded from DTT/DVB will cause problems. Even using the upgraded EyeConnect v1.5 the PS3 refuses to play back the files, even though it can see them all.
